The making process of this dish is similar to chilli paneer but this one uses potato strips instead of paneer cubes. First, the potato strips are fried until crispy and then cooked in the gravy made with tangy, hot and sweet sauces. To make sauce, heat oil in a wok or deep pan on a medium to high heat. Now add onion, garlic, and spring onion (reserving some for garnish) and cook until soft.
Steps to make Chilli potato:
- In a bowl add potato, corn flour, red food colour, salt and mix all the ingredients well.
- Now heat a big kadai and add oil to fry the potatoes. Once the oil is heated add coated potatoes and fry till fried. Once done put it out.
- Now take a kadai and add some oil to saute the gravy ingredients.
- Now add ginger garlic paste in to the oil and saute for 30 second after 30 seconds add onions and saute the onions also for 5 minutes
- Now after the onions are done add cornflour paste on which ive added 2 tablespoon cornflour and 6 tablespoon water and a drop of edible red food colour.
- Now after that add soya sauce, chilli sauce and ajinomoto(optional) and mix all well.
- Now add salt, tomato ketchup and black pepper powder and mix all well..
- Now put the fried potato and fried capsicum and mix all the ingredients very well.
- And your chilli potatoes are done. Serve hot.
